Cavity cleaning and debris removal across Essex
We cover 21 towns in Essex, including Southend-on-Sea, Basildon, Colchester, Chelmsford, Harlow and more.
Before any material is chosen, exposure is checked. Much of Essex sits in the more sheltered driving-rain zones of the UK, which widens the choice of fill. Exposed elevations, coastal sites and high ground still get checked wall by wall.
Defects such as failed pointing, leaking gutters and bridged damp-proof courses are listed and priced separately for Essex properties, so you can choose who fixes them. Where an Essex wall does need work, bricks are lifted and rebuilt in matching mortar, and the cavity is checked with a camera before it is closed up.
Building Regulations in England
Filling an existing cavity wall is notifiable building work in England. Either a building notice goes to building control before the work, or the installer self-certifies it through a government-approved competent person scheme such as CIGA's CWISC scheme. The insulation used must also be suitable for the wall it goes into, which is why the survey checks construction, condition and exposure first.

Why debris matters
A clean cavity lets water that gets through the outer leaf drain away. Debris piled at the base or caught on ties makes a bridge for that water. It is a common cause of damp low on walls and around ties, with or without insulation.
