What is open in October 2026
ECO4 runs to 31 December 2026 in Great Britain, with no successor supplier scheme. The Great British Insulation Scheme closed on 31 March 2026. England has Warm Homes: Local Grant and the Warm Homes Plan's low-income support; Wales has Warm Homes Nest; Scotland has Home Energy Scotland and Warmer Homes Scotland; Northern Ireland has the Affordable Warmth Scheme.
If you do not qualify
On a suitable wall, the Energy Saving Trust says most households recoup the cost of cavity wall insulation within about five years, and installing it in a home is currently zero-rated for VAT. We give a fixed price after a free survey.
What is included
- Scheme check by nation
- Pointers to official application routes
- Private quote if funding is not available
Grant and funding check prices
| Grant and funding check guide prices | Guide price |

Rules and funding by nation
The building regulations route and the funding schemes differ between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The local pages for your area explain the rules where you are; in short:
- England: Filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.
- Wales: Filling a cavity is notifiable work under the Building Regulations as they apply in Wales, usually self-certified through a competent person scheme.
- Scotland: No building warrant is needed for insulation within a wall, but the work must meet the building standards.
- Northern Ireland: Inserting cavity wall insulation needs a building control application to the council before work starts.
