Thermal imaging survey across the Scottish Borders
We cover 4 towns in the Scottish Borders: Galashiels, Hawick, Peebles and Kelso.
Before any material is chosen, exposure is checked. The Scottish Borders has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
The written result for your Scottish Borders property is plain English: what we found, what it means and what, if anything, to do next. Where a Scottish Borders wall shows cold patches or damp, the survey targets those areas first rather than sampling at random.
Building standards in Scotland
In Scotland, work associated with thermal insulating material within a wall is listed in schedule 3 of the Building (Scotland) Regulations as work that does not need a building warrant. It must still meet the building standards, so the survey still checks that the wall and the chosen material are suitable, including exposure to wind-driven rain.

What thermal images can and cannot show
They show patterns, not proof. A cooler stripe inside might be missing fill, a cold bridge at a lintel or simply a radiator switched off. That is why we pair the images with borescope checks before recommending any work.
What is included
- Interior and exterior images
- Annotated report
- Borescope checks of suspect areas
- Recommendations, if any
