Thermal imaging survey across Edinburgh
We cover Edinburgh and its surrounding districts.
Every elevation is judged on its own exposure. Edinburgh has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
A survey in Edinburgh gives you facts before anyone drills: what the wall is, what is in the cavity and whether it is sound. Every inspection point in Edinburgh is photographed and logged, so you have a record to show a buyer, lender or contractor.
Building standards in Scotland
In Scotland, work associated with thermal insulating material within a wall is listed in schedule 3 of the Building (Scotland) Regulations as work that does not need a building warrant. It must still meet the building standards, so the survey still checks that the wall and the chosen material are suitable, including exposure to wind-driven rain.

What thermal images can and cannot show
They show patterns, not proof. A cooler stripe inside might be missing fill, a cold bridge at a lintel or simply a radiator switched off. That is why we pair the images with borescope checks before recommending any work.
What is included
- Interior and exterior images
- Annotated report
- Borescope checks of suspect areas
- Recommendations, if any
