Cavity cleaning and debris removal across the Scottish Borders
We cover 4 towns in the Scottish Borders: Galashiels, Hawick, Peebles and Kelso.
Before any material is chosen, exposure is checked. The Scottish Borders has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
Defects such as failed pointing, leaking gutters and bridged damp-proof courses are listed and priced separately for Scottish Borders properties, so you can choose who fixes them. If your Scottish Borders installation has a guarantee, we check it first; the guarantee route may cover the work.
Building standards in Scotland
In Scotland, work associated with thermal insulating material within a wall is listed in schedule 3 of the Building (Scotland) Regulations as work that does not need a building warrant. It must still meet the building standards, so the survey still checks that the wall and the chosen material are suitable, including exposure to wind-driven rain.

Why debris matters
A clean cavity lets water that gets through the outer leaf drain away. Debris piled at the base or caught on ties makes a bridge for that water. It is a common cause of damp low on walls and around ties, with or without insulation.
