Cavity cleaning and debris removal across Argyll and Bute
We cover 4 towns in Argyll and Bute: Helensburgh, Oban, Dunoon and Campbeltown.
Exposure matters for every cavity wall. Parts of Argyll and Bute face some of the heaviest wind-driven rain in the UK, especially exposed coastal and upland sites. Here the survey is stricter: some walls suit only certain certified systems, and some should not be filled at all.
Defects such as failed pointing, leaking gutters and bridged damp-proof courses are listed and priced separately for Argyll and Bute properties, so you can choose who fixes them. We never cold-call in Argyll and Bute or anywhere else, and we do not work with doorstep claims companies.
Building standards in Scotland
In Scotland, work associated with thermal insulating material within a wall is listed in schedule 3 of the Building (Scotland) Regulations as work that does not need a building warrant. It must still meet the building standards, so the survey still checks that the wall and the chosen material are suitable, including exposure to wind-driven rain.
Sources: Scottish Government: building work not requiring a warrant (schedule 3).
Why debris matters
A clean cavity lets water that gets through the outer leaf drain away. Debris piled at the base or caught on ties makes a bridge for that water. It is a common cause of damp low on walls and around ties, with or without insulation.
