Wall tie replacement for Ebbw Vale properties
If your property is in Ebbw Vale or the NP23 district or nearby Pontypool, Cwmbran and Risca, it is within our Gwent coverage. It is about 16 miles north-west of Newport.
Defects such as failed pointing, leaking gutters and bridged damp-proof courses are listed and priced separately for Ebbw Vale properties, so you can choose who fixes them. If your Ebbw Vale installation has a guarantee, we check it first; the guarantee route may cover the work.
Every elevation is judged on its own exposure. Parts of Gwent face some of the heaviest wind-driven rain in the UK, especially exposed coastal and upland sites. Here the survey is stricter: some walls suit only certain certified systems, and some should not be filled at all.
As for paperwork, if cavity wall insulation follows in Ebbw Vale, filling a cavity is notifiable work under the Building Regulations as they apply in Wales, usually self-certified through a competent person scheme.

Signs of wall tie failure
Horizontal cracks in mortar joints at regular vertical intervals, bulging brickwork, or lifting of the roof verge. Older galvanised ties, especially in walls built before the 1980s, are the usual suspects.
