Wall tie replacement for Aberystwyth properties
If your property is in Aberystwyth or the SY23 district or nearby Carmarthen and Ammanford, it is within our Dyfed coverage. It is roughly 38 miles north of Carmarthen.
Where an Aberystwyth wall does need work, bricks are lifted and rebuilt in matching mortar, and the cavity is checked with a camera before it is closed up. If your Aberystwyth installation has a guarantee, we check it first; the guarantee route may cover the work.
Local weather affects which walls can be filled. Parts of Dyfed face some of the heaviest wind-driven rain in the UK, especially exposed coastal and upland sites. Here the survey is stricter: some walls suit only certain certified systems, and some should not be filled at all.
In terms of approvals, if cavity wall insulation follows in Aberystwyth, filling a cavity is notifiable work under the Building Regulations as they apply in Wales, usually self-certified through a competent person scheme.

Ties and cavity insulation
Ties should be checked before a cavity is filled. Fitting remedial ties does not normally stop a cavity being insulated later, and we can do both in one visit. Where cracking suggests movement, we recommend a structural engineer's view first.
What is included in Aberystwyth
