Wall tie replacement for Falmouth properties
Our Cornwall coverage takes in Falmouth (TR11) and nearby Truro, Redruth and Camborne. It is roughly 7 miles south of Truro.
Defects such as failed pointing, leaking gutters and bridged damp-proof courses are listed and priced separately for Falmouth properties, so you can choose who fixes them. Where a Falmouth wall does need work, bricks are lifted and rebuilt in matching mortar, and the cavity is checked with a camera before it is closed up.
Local weather affects which walls can be filled. Parts of Cornwall face some of the heaviest wind-driven rain in the UK, especially exposed coastal and upland sites. Here the survey is stricter: some walls suit only certain certified systems, and some should not be filled at all.
As for paperwork, if cavity wall insulation follows in Falmouth, filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.
Rules in England
Filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification if insulation work follows.

Signs of wall tie failure
Horizontal cracks in mortar joints at regular vertical intervals, bulging brickwork, or lifting of the roof verge. Older galvanised ties, especially in walls built before the 1980s, are the usual suspects.
