Thermal imaging survey for Thatcham properties
If your property is in Thatcham or the RG19 district or nearby Newbury, Reading and Lower Earley, it is within our Berkshire coverage. It is about 13 miles west of Reading.
Where a Thatcham wall shows cold patches or damp, the survey targets those areas first rather than sampling at random. Buyers and sellers in Thatcham often book this check when a survey report or EPC raises questions about the walls.
Before any material is chosen, exposure is checked. Much of Berkshire sits in the more sheltered driving-rain zones of the UK, which widens the choice of fill. Exposed elevations, coastal sites and high ground still get checked wall by wall.
On compliance, if cavity wall insulation follows in Thatcham, filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.
Rules in England
Filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification if insulation work follows.

What thermal images can and cannot show
They show patterns, not proof. A cooler stripe inside might be missing fill, a cold bridge at a lintel or simply a radiator switched off. That is why we pair the images with borescope checks before recommending any work.
What is included in Thatcham
- Borescope checks of suspect areas
