Bonded polystyrene bead insulation for Ely properties
Our Cambridgeshire coverage takes in Ely (CB6) and nearby Newmarket, March and Cambridge. It is around 15 miles north-east of Cambridge.
A suitable wall in Ely is usually filled in a single day from outside, with drill holes made good to match the pointing. Where an Ely property has an extension or a conservatory, we check how the old and new walls meet, because that junction is often missed.
Every elevation is judged on its own exposure. Much of Cambridgeshire sits in the more sheltered driving-rain zones of the UK, which widens the choice of fill. Exposed elevations, coastal sites and high ground still get checked wall by wall.
In terms of approvals, in Ely filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.
Funding in England
In England, ECO4 runs to 31 December 2026 and Warm Homes: Local Grant supports low-income households through councils.

What to know before you choose beads
Polystyrene is combustible, so beads are not the right choice for every building; height, use and nearby openings matter, and the system certificate sets the limits. PVC-sheathed cables in the cavity should be sleeved or kept out of contact with the beads where the certificate requires it. We check both at survey.
What is included in Ely

- Making good to the mortar colour
- Binder applied at the nozzle
