Party wall cavity insulation for Wigston Magna properties
Wigston Magna sits in Leicestershire, around 4 miles south-east of Leicester. We work across the LE18 district, including nearby Oadby, Leicester and Hinckley.
Most Wigston Magna houses built from the 1920s onwards have cavity walls, but the survey still checks each one: cavity width, debris, the condition of the brickwork and how exposed each wall is. For semi-detached and terraced homes in Wigston Magna, cavity barriers are fitted where your wall meets your neighbour's so the fill stays on your side.
Local weather affects which walls can be filled. Much of Leicestershire sits in the more sheltered driving-rain zones of the UK, which widens the choice of fill. Exposed elevations, coastal sites and high ground still get checked wall by wall.
On the rules side, in Wigston Magna filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.

Why a party wall loses heat
Many semi-detached and terraced homes built with cavity separating walls have that cavity open to the loft. Air moves up the cavity and out at the top, a loss sometimes called the party wall bypass. Filling the cavity and sealing the top stops it.
