Party wall cavity insulation for March properties
If your property is in March or the PE15 district or nearby Wisbech, Ely and Peterborough, it is within our Cambridgeshire coverage. It is about 24 miles north of Cambridge.
A suitable wall in March is usually filled in a single day from outside, with drill holes made good to match the pointing. Most March houses built from the 1920s onwards have cavity walls, but the survey still checks each one: cavity width, debris, the condition of the brickwork and how exposed each wall is.
Before any material is chosen, exposure is checked. Much of Cambridgeshire sits in the more sheltered driving-rain zones of the UK, which widens the choice of fill. Exposed elevations, coastal sites and high ground still get checked wall by wall.
For regulations, in March filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.

Why a party wall loses heat
Many semi-detached and terraced homes built with cavity separating walls have that cavity open to the loft. Air moves up the cavity and out at the top, a loss sometimes called the party wall bypass. Filling the cavity and sealing the top stops it.
