Cold calls, claims companies and cavity wall insulation

Be wary of unsolicited calls or doorstep visits offering free cavity wall insulation or compensation for failed insulation. Check the company and any scheme it names through official websites, never give bank or benefit details on the doorstep, and do not sign until you have had time to check.

Red flags

  • Pressure to sign today or 'before the grant runs out'.
  • Requests for bank, benefit or National Insurance details before any survey.
  • Promises of guaranteed compensation for old insulation.
  • No company name, number or address you can check.

How to check

Look the company up on Companies House, check scheme claims on GOV.UK, gov.wales, mygov.scot or nidirect, and for failed installs speak to the original installer and guarantee provider first. Welsh Government guidance also advises checking that any solicitor involved is regulated by the SRA.

How we work

We do not cold-call. You contact us; we survey; you get a written result and a fixed price; you decide. Your contract is with S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, and the installer and guarantee are named on the quote.
