Existing insulation and guarantee check for Merthyr Tydfil properties
Merthyr Tydfil sits in Mid Glamorgan, around 19 miles north-east of Bridgend. We work across the CF47 district, including nearby Aberdare, Rhondda and Tonypandy.
Where a Merthyr Tydfil wall shows cold patches or damp, the survey targets those areas first rather than sampling at random. Buyers and sellers in Merthyr Tydfil often book this check when a survey report or EPC raises questions about the walls.
Before any material is chosen, exposure is checked. Parts of Mid Glamorgan face some of the heaviest wind-driven rain in the UK, especially exposed coastal and upland sites. Here the survey is stricter: some walls suit only certain certified systems, and some should not be filled at all.
For regulations, if cavity wall insulation follows in Merthyr Tydfil, filling a cavity is notifiable work under the Building Regulations as they apply in Wales, usually self-certified through a competent person scheme.

Tracing a guarantee
Many cavity fills carry a 25-year guarantee from the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA). CIGA can confirm whether a property is covered and can issue a duplicate guarantee for a fee; at the time of writing that fee is £60 including VAT, and proof of ownership is required.
