Damp investigation after cavity insulation for Merthyr Tydfil properties
Merthyr Tydfil sits in Mid Glamorgan, around 19 miles north-east of Bridgend. We work across the CF47 district, including nearby Aberdare, Rhondda and Tonypandy.
If your Merthyr Tydfil installation has a guarantee, we check it first; the guarantee route may cover the work. Where a Merthyr Tydfil wall does need work, bricks are lifted and rebuilt in matching mortar, and the cavity is checked with a camera before it is closed up.
Wind-driven rain is the first thing the surveyor weighs up. Parts of Mid Glamorgan face some of the heaviest wind-driven rain in the UK, especially exposed coastal and upland sites. Here the survey is stricter: some walls suit only certain certified systems, and some should not be filled at all.
On the rules side, if cavity wall insulation follows in Merthyr Tydfil, filling a cavity is notifiable work under the Building Regulations as they apply in Wales, usually self-certified through a competent person scheme.
