Draught-proofing for North Shields properties
North Shields is among the towns we cover in Tyne and Wear, alongside Tynemouth, South Shields and Whitley Bay. It is around 7 miles north-east of Newcastle upon Tyne.
Where a North Shields home also has empty cavity walls, we can survey those at the same time. In North Shields homes this is often done on the same visit as a cavity fill, which saves a second trip.
In terms of approvals, if cavity wall insulation follows in North Shields, filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.
Funding in England
In England, ECO4 runs to 31 December 2026 and Warm Homes: Local Grant supports low-income households through councils.

Ventilation still matters
Trickle vents, air bricks and extractor fans are there for a reason. We seal accidental gaps, not the ventilation your home needs to keep condensation down.
