Damp investigation after cavity insulation for Castleford properties
Our West Yorkshire coverage takes in Castleford (WF10) and nearby Pontefract, Lofthouse and Wakefield. It is about 9 miles south-east of Leeds.
Damp in an insulated Castleford home is not always the insulation's fault, so the diagnosis comes before any extraction. Where a Castleford wall does need work, bricks are lifted and rebuilt in matching mortar, and the cavity is checked with a camera before it is closed up.
Exposure matters for every cavity wall. West Yorkshire has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
On compliance, if cavity wall insulation follows in Castleford, filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.
