Cavity wall insulation removal across the Highlands and Islands
We cover 7 towns in the Highlands and Islands, including Inverness, Fort William, Thurso, Kirkwall, Lerwick and more.
Local weather affects which walls can be filled. Parts of the Highlands and Islands face some of the heaviest wind-driven rain in the UK, especially exposed coastal and upland sites. Here the survey is stricter: some walls suit only certain certified systems, and some should not be filled at all.
We never cold-call in the Highlands and Islands or anywhere else, and we do not work with doorstep claims companies. Where a Highlands and Islands wall does need work, bricks are lifted and rebuilt in matching mortar, and the cavity is checked with a camera before it is closed up.
Building standards in Scotland
In Scotland, work associated with thermal insulating material within a wall is listed in schedule 3 of the Building (Scotland) Regulations as work that does not need a building warrant. It must still meet the building standards, so the survey still checks that the wall and the chosen material are suitable, including exposure to wind-driven rain.

Should I remove my cavity wall insulation?
Not always. Welsh Government guidance makes the point that extraction is not always the right remedy. Damp can come from blocked gutters, failed pointing, bridged damp-proof courses or condensation, none of which removal fixes. We start with a damp investigation and borescope checks, then recommend removal only where the fill itself is the problem.
What is included
- Damp investigation and borescope diagnosis first
- Brick removal and reinstatement
- Full extraction and cavity clean
- Camera check before rebuild
- Waste disposal
- Option to refill with a suitable system
