Remove and refill across Edinburgh
We cover Edinburgh and its surrounding districts.
Local weather affects which walls can be filled. Edinburgh has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
If your Edinburgh installation has a guarantee, we check it first; the guarantee route may cover the work. Defects such as failed pointing, leaking gutters and bridged damp-proof courses are listed and priced separately for Edinburgh properties, so you can choose who fixes them.
Building standards in Scotland
In Scotland, work associated with thermal insulating material within a wall is listed in schedule 3 of the Building (Scotland) Regulations as work that does not need a building warrant. It must still meet the building standards, so the survey still checks that the wall and the chosen material are suitable, including exposure to wind-driven rain.

Why refill at all?
Often the original problem was the wrong material for the exposure, poor installation or defects in the outer wall, not cavity insulation as such. Once the defects are fixed and the cavity is clean, a suitable certified system can usually go back in. Where the wall is too exposed for any fill, we say so and leave it empty.
What is included
- Diagnosis and extraction
- Repairs to pointing, gutters or render where needed
