Remove and refill for Chesterfield properties
Our Derbyshire coverage takes in Chesterfield (S40) and nearby Staveley, Dronfield and Alfreton. It is about 23 miles north of Derby.
Where a Chesterfield wall does need work, bricks are lifted and rebuilt in matching mortar, and the cavity is checked with a camera before it is closed up. Defects such as failed pointing, leaking gutters and bridged damp-proof courses are listed and priced separately for Chesterfield properties, so you can choose who fixes them.
Every elevation is judged on its own exposure. Derbyshire has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
On the rules side, if cavity wall insulation follows in Chesterfield, filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.

Why refill at all?
Often the original problem was the wrong material for the exposure, poor installation or defects in the outer wall, not cavity insulation as such. Once the defects are fixed and the cavity is clean, a suitable certified system can usually go back in. Where the wall is too exposed for any fill, we say so and leave it empty.
