Remove and refill for Kendal properties
Kendal sits in Cumbria, about 40 miles south of Carlisle. We work across the LA9 district, including nearby Penrith and Barrow in Furness.
We never cold-call in Kendal or anywhere else, and we do not work with doorstep claims companies. Where a Kendal wall does need work, bricks are lifted and rebuilt in matching mortar, and the cavity is checked with a camera before it is closed up.
Wind-driven rain is the first thing the surveyor weighs up. Parts of Cumbria face some of the heaviest wind-driven rain in the UK, especially exposed coastal and upland sites. Here the survey is stricter: some walls suit only certain certified systems, and some should not be filled at all.
In terms of approvals, if cavity wall insulation follows in Kendal, filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.
Rules in England
Filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification if insulation work follows.

Why refill at all?
Often the original problem was the wrong material for the exposure, poor installation or defects in the outer wall, not cavity insulation as such. Once the defects are fixed and the cavity is clean, a suitable certified system can usually go back in. Where the wall is too exposed for any fill, we say so and leave it empty.
