Wall tie replacement for Hitchin properties
If your property is in Hitchin or the SG6 district or nearby Letchworth Garden City, Stevenage and Harpenden, it is within our Hertfordshire coverage. It is around 14 miles north of St Albans.
If your Hitchin installation has a guarantee, we check it first; the guarantee route may cover the work. Where a Hitchin wall does need work, bricks are lifted and rebuilt in matching mortar, and the cavity is checked with a camera before it is closed up.
Exposure matters for every cavity wall. Much of Hertfordshire sits in the more sheltered driving-rain zones of the UK, which widens the choice of fill. Exposed elevations, coastal sites and high ground still get checked wall by wall.
On the rules side, if cavity wall insulation follows in Hitchin, filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.

Ties and cavity insulation
Ties should be checked before a cavity is filled. Fitting remedial ties does not normally stop a cavity being insulated later, and we can do both in one visit. Where cracking suggests movement, we recommend a structural engineer's view first.
