Wall tie replacement for Magherafelt properties
Magherafelt sits in County Londonderry, around 31 miles south-east of Derry. We work across the BT45 district, including nearby Limavady, Coleraine and Derry.
Defects such as failed pointing, leaking gutters and bridged damp-proof courses are listed and priced separately for Magherafelt properties, so you can choose who fixes them. Where a Magherafelt wall does need work, bricks are lifted and rebuilt in matching mortar, and the cavity is checked with a camera before it is closed up.
Before any material is chosen, exposure is checked. Parts of County Londonderry face some of the heaviest wind-driven rain in the UK, especially exposed coastal and upland sites. Here the survey is stricter: some walls suit only certain certified systems, and some should not be filled at all.
On the rules side, if cavity wall insulation follows in Magherafelt, inserting cavity wall insulation needs a building control application to the council before work starts.

Ties and cavity insulation
Ties should be checked before a cavity is filled. Fitting remedial ties does not normally stop a cavity being insulated later, and we can do both in one visit. Where cracking suggests movement, we recommend a structural engineer's view first.
What is included in Magherafelt
- Remedial stainless ties to a set pattern
- Isolation or removal of old ties where needed
- Tie inspection with metal detector and borescope
