Thermal imaging survey for Dumfries properties
If your property is in Dumfries or the DG1 district or nearby Annan and Castle Douglas, it is within our Dumfries and Galloway coverage. Dumfries is one of the main towns we cover in Dumfries and Galloway.
Buyers and sellers in Dumfries often book this check when a survey report or EPC raises questions about the walls. A survey in Dumfries gives you facts before anyone drills: what the wall is, what is in the cavity and whether it is sound.
Wind-driven rain is the first thing the surveyor weighs up. Parts of Dumfries and Galloway face some of the heaviest wind-driven rain in the UK, especially exposed coastal and upland sites. Here the survey is stricter: some walls suit only certain certified systems, and some should not be filled at all.
On compliance, if cavity wall insulation follows in Dumfries, no building warrant is needed for insulation within a wall, but the work must meet the building standards.
Rules in Scotland
No building warrant is needed for insulation within a wall, but the work must meet the building standards if insulation work follows.
Sources: Scottish Government: building work not requiring a warrant (schedule 3).
Useful for
Checking an old installation, planning a top-up, finding where an extension's insulation stops, and giving landlords evidence before and after works.
