Bonded polystyrene bead insulation for Perth properties
Our Tayside coverage takes in Perth (PH2) and nearby Dundee, Forfar and Arbroath. It is about 18 miles west of Dundee.
Most Perth houses built from the 1920s onwards have cavity walls, but the survey still checks each one: cavity width, debris, the condition of the brickwork and how exposed each wall is. Where a Perth property has an extension or a conservatory, we check how the old and new walls meet, because that junction is often missed.
Wind-driven rain is the first thing the surveyor weighs up. Tayside has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
For regulations, in Perth no building warrant is needed for insulation within a wall, but the work must meet the building standards.

What to know before you choose beads
Polystyrene is combustible, so beads are not the right choice for every building; height, use and nearby openings matter, and the system certificate sets the limits. PVC-sheathed cables in the cavity should be sleeved or kept out of contact with the beads where the certificate requires it. We check both at survey.
What is included in Perth
- Cable and opening checks at survey
- Binder applied at the nozzle
- Regulations route and guarantee named on the quote
- Certified bonded bead system
