Bonded polystyrene bead insulation for Manchester properties
Our Greater Manchester coverage takes in Manchester (M2) and nearby Salford, Failsworth and Droylsden. Manchester is one of the main towns we cover in Greater Manchester.
If a wall in Manchester is not suitable, for example because of an undiagnosed damp patch or a very exposed gable, you are told so in writing with the reason. Most Manchester houses built from the 1920s onwards have cavity walls, but the survey still checks each one: cavity width, debris, the condition of the brickwork and how exposed each wall is.
Every elevation is judged on its own exposure. Greater Manchester has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
For regulations, in Manchester filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.
Funding in England
In England, ECO4 runs to 31 December 2026 and Warm Homes: Local Grant supports low-income households through councils.

What to know before you choose beads
Polystyrene is combustible, so beads are not the right choice for every building; height, use and nearby openings matter, and the system certificate sets the limits. PVC-sheathed cables in the cavity should be sleeved or kept out of contact with the beads where the certificate requires it. We check both at survey.
What is included in Manchester
- Cable and opening checks at survey
- Binder applied at the nozzle
- Making good to the mortar colour
