Bonded polystyrene bead insulation for Wickford properties
We cover Wickford and the SS12 postcode district, including nearby Rayleigh, Basildon and South Benfleet. It is roughly 9 miles south of Chelmsford.
Where a Wickford property has an extension or a conservatory, we check how the old and new walls meet, because that junction is often missed. Wickford properties with rendered or painted walls get a closer look at the outer finish, because cracked render can let rain behind it.
Wind-driven rain is the first thing the surveyor weighs up. Much of Essex sits in the more sheltered driving-rain zones of the UK, which widens the choice of fill. Exposed elevations, coastal sites and high ground still get checked wall by wall.
On the rules side, in Wickford filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.
Funding in England
In England, ECO4 runs to 31 December 2026 and Warm Homes: Local Grant supports low-income households through councils.

What to know before you choose beads
Polystyrene is combustible, so beads are not the right choice for every building; height, use and nearby openings matter, and the system certificate sets the limits. PVC-sheathed cables in the cavity should be sleeved or kept out of contact with the beads where the certificate requires it. We check both at survey.
