Bonded polystyrene bead insulation for Peterborough properties
Peterborough sits in Cambridgeshire, about 30 miles north-west of Cambridge. We work across the PE1 district, including nearby March, Huntingdon and Wisbech.
For semi-detached and terraced homes in Peterborough, cavity barriers are fitted where your wall meets your neighbour's so the fill stays on your side. Most Peterborough houses built from the 1920s onwards have cavity walls, but the survey still checks each one: cavity width, debris, the condition of the brickwork and how exposed each wall is.
Wind-driven rain is the first thing the surveyor weighs up. Much of Cambridgeshire sits in the more sheltered driving-rain zones of the UK, which widens the choice of fill. Exposed elevations, coastal sites and high ground still get checked wall by wall.
On compliance, in Peterborough filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.
Funding in England
In England, ECO4 runs to 31 December 2026 and Warm Homes: Local Grant supports low-income households through councils.

What to know before you choose beads
Polystyrene is combustible, so beads are not the right choice for every building; height, use and nearby openings matter, and the system certificate sets the limits. PVC-sheathed cables in the cavity should be sleeved or kept out of contact with the beads where the certificate requires it. We check both at survey.
What is included in Peterborough
