Party wall cavity insulation for Kingswinford properties
Our West Midlands coverage takes in Kingswinford (DY6) and nearby Stourbridge, Dudley and Tipton. It is roughly 11 miles west of Birmingham.
Most Kingswinford houses built from the 1920s onwards have cavity walls, but the survey still checks each one: cavity width, debris, the condition of the brickwork and how exposed each wall is. A suitable wall in Kingswinford is usually filled in a single day from outside, with drill holes made good to match the pointing.
Local weather affects which walls can be filled. The West Midlands has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
For regulations, in Kingswinford filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.

Why a party wall loses heat
Many semi-detached and terraced homes built with cavity separating walls have that cavity open to the loft. Air moves up the cavity and out at the top, a loss sometimes called the party wall bypass. Filling the cavity and sealing the top stops it.
