Party wall cavity insulation for Prestwich properties
Prestwich sits in Greater Manchester, roughly 4 miles north-west of Manchester. We work across the M25 district, including nearby Whitefield, Radcliffe and Salford.
For semi-detached and terraced homes in Prestwich, cavity barriers are fitted where your wall meets your neighbour's so the fill stays on your side. If a wall in Prestwich is not suitable, for example because of an undiagnosed damp patch or a very exposed gable, you are told so in writing with the reason.
Before any material is chosen, exposure is checked. Greater Manchester has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
On the rules side, in Prestwich filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.

Why a party wall loses heat
Many semi-detached and terraced homes built with cavity separating walls have that cavity open to the loft. Air moves up the cavity and out at the top, a loss sometimes called the party wall bypass. Filling the cavity and sealing the top stops it.
