Party wall cavity insulation for Beckenham properties
If your property is in Beckenham or the BR3 district or nearby Catford, Croydon and Blackheath, it is within our Greater London coverage. It is roughly 8 miles south-east of London.
Most Beckenham houses built from the 1920s onwards have cavity walls, but the survey still checks each one: cavity width, debris, the condition of the brickwork and how exposed each wall is. If a wall in Beckenham is not suitable, for example because of an undiagnosed damp patch or a very exposed gable, you are told so in writing with the reason.
Every elevation is judged on its own exposure. Much of Greater London sits in the more sheltered driving-rain zones of the UK, which widens the choice of fill. Exposed elevations, coastal sites and high ground still get checked wall by wall.
As for paperwork, in Beckenham filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.

Why a party wall loses heat
Many semi-detached and terraced homes built with cavity separating walls have that cavity open to the loft. Air moves up the cavity and out at the top, a loss sometimes called the party wall bypass. Filling the cavity and sealing the top stops it.
What is included in Beckenham
