Party wall cavity insulation for Weymouth properties
Weymouth is among the towns we cover in Dorset, alongside Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch. It is around 27 miles west of Bournemouth.
Weymouth properties with rendered or painted walls get a closer look at the outer finish, because cracked render can let rain behind it. If a wall in Weymouth is not suitable, for example because of an undiagnosed damp patch or a very exposed gable, you are told so in writing with the reason.
Local weather affects which walls can be filled. Dorset has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
For regulations, in Weymouth filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.

Why a party wall loses heat
Many semi-detached and terraced homes built with cavity separating walls have that cavity open to the loft. Air moves up the cavity and out at the top, a loss sometimes called the party wall bypass. Filling the cavity and sealing the top stops it.
What is included in Weymouth
