Blown mineral wool insulation across Renfrewshire and Inverclyde
We cover 4 towns in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde: Paisley, Greenock, Newton Mearns and Renfrew.
Local weather affects which walls can be filled. Parts of Renfrewshire and Inverclyde face some of the heaviest wind-driven rain in the UK, especially exposed coastal and upland sites. Here the survey is stricter: some walls suit only certain certified systems, and some should not be filled at all.
Where a Renfrewshire and Inverclyde property has an extension or a conservatory, we check how the old and new walls meet, because that junction is often missed. Renfrewshire and Inverclyde properties with rendered or painted walls get a closer look at the outer finish, because cracked render can let rain behind it.
Building standards in Scotland
In Scotland, work associated with thermal insulating material within a wall is listed in schedule 3 of the Building (Scotland) Regulations as work that does not need a building warrant. It must still meet the building standards, so the survey still checks that the wall and the chosen material are suitable, including exposure to wind-driven rain.
Funding in Scotland
- Home Energy Scotland is the starting point for the Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan and for Warmer Homes Scotland, which can include cavity wall insulation.
- Many councils also run area-based schemes for insulation in particular streets or estates.
- ECO4 runs until 31 December 2026 across Great Britain, including Scotland.

When is it not the right choice?
Very narrow or uneven cavities, walls with lots of mortar snots and debris, and some very exposed elevations can be better suited to bonded bead, which flows around obstructions and is certified for a wider range of exposure zones in some systems. The survey says which and why.
What is included
- Certified mineral fibre system
- Density and drill pattern recorded
- Making good to the mortar colour
- Cavity barriers where needed
- Regulations route and guarantee named on the quote
