Repointing and pre-insulation repairs across Argyll and Bute
We cover 4 towns in Argyll and Bute: Helensburgh, Oban, Dunoon and Campbeltown.
Wind-driven rain is the first thing the surveyor weighs up. Parts of Argyll and Bute face some of the heaviest wind-driven rain in the UK, especially exposed coastal and upland sites. Here the survey is stricter: some walls suit only certain certified systems, and some should not be filled at all.
We never cold-call in Argyll and Bute or anywhere else, and we do not work with doorstep claims companies. Where an Argyll and Bute wall does need work, bricks are lifted and rebuilt in matching mortar, and the cavity is checked with a camera before it is closed up.
Building standards in Scotland
In Scotland, work associated with thermal insulating material within a wall is listed in schedule 3 of the Building (Scotland) Regulations as work that does not need a building warrant. It must still meet the building standards, so the survey still checks that the wall and the chosen material are suitable, including exposure to wind-driven rain.

Why repairs come first
Energy Saving Trust advice is to fix brickwork, pointing, roofs, gutters and downpipes before filling. A filled cavity is less forgiving of a wet outer leaf than an empty one, so we price repairs separately and you choose who carries them out.
What is included
- Raking out and repointing
- Brick replacement
