Existing insulation and guarantee check for Wigan properties
We cover Wigan and the WN1 postcode district, including nearby Ashton in Makerfield, Westhoughton and Leigh. It is roughly 17 miles west of Manchester.
A survey in Wigan gives you facts before anyone drills: what the wall is, what is in the cavity and whether it is sound. Where a Wigan wall shows cold patches or damp, the survey targets those areas first rather than sampling at random.
Local weather affects which walls can be filled. Greater Manchester has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
In terms of approvals, if cavity wall insulation follows in Wigan, filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.

Tracing a guarantee
Many cavity fills carry a 25-year guarantee from the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA). CIGA can confirm whether a property is covered and can issue a duplicate guarantee for a fee; at the time of writing that fee is £60 including VAT, and proof of ownership is required.
