Existing insulation and guarantee check for Colchester properties
Colchester is among the towns we cover in Essex, alongside Clacton-on-Sea, Witham and Maldon. It is about 21 miles north-east of Chelmsford.
A survey in Colchester gives you facts before anyone drills: what the wall is, what is in the cavity and whether it is sound. Where a Colchester wall shows cold patches or damp, the survey targets those areas first rather than sampling at random.
Local weather affects which walls can be filled. Much of Essex sits in the more sheltered driving-rain zones of the UK, which widens the choice of fill. Exposed elevations, coastal sites and high ground still get checked wall by wall.
For regulations, if cavity wall insulation follows in Colchester, filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.

Tracing a guarantee
Many cavity fills carry a 25-year guarantee from the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA). CIGA can confirm whether a property is covered and can issue a duplicate guarantee for a fee; at the time of writing that fee is £60 including VAT, and proof of ownership is required.
