Existing insulation and guarantee check for Newbury properties
We cover Newbury and the RG14 postcode district, including nearby Thatcham, Reading and Lower Earley. It is about 16 miles west of Reading.
Where a Newbury wall shows cold patches or damp, the survey targets those areas first rather than sampling at random. Buyers and sellers in Newbury often book this check when a survey report or EPC raises questions about the walls.
Wind-driven rain is the first thing the surveyor weighs up. Much of Berkshire sits in the more sheltered driving-rain zones of the UK, which widens the choice of fill. Exposed elevations, coastal sites and high ground still get checked wall by wall.
On the rules side, if cavity wall insulation follows in Newbury, filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.

Tracing a guarantee
Many cavity fills carry a 25-year guarantee from the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA). CIGA can confirm whether a property is covered and can issue a duplicate guarantee for a fee; at the time of writing that fee is £60 including VAT, and proof of ownership is required.
