Damp investigation after cavity insulation for Altrincham properties
We cover Altrincham and the WA14 postcode district, including nearby Sale, Urmston and Stretford. It is roughly 8 miles south-west of Manchester.
Where an Altrincham wall does need work, bricks are lifted and rebuilt in matching mortar, and the cavity is checked with a camera before it is closed up. Defects such as failed pointing, leaking gutters and bridged damp-proof courses are listed and priced separately for Altrincham properties, so you can choose who fixes them.
Before any material is chosen, exposure is checked. Greater Manchester has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
In terms of approvals, if cavity wall insulation follows in Altrincham, filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.
