Cavity wall insulation for Stretford properties
If your property is in Stretford or the M32 district or nearby Urmston, Sale and Salford, it is within our Greater Manchester coverage. It is roughly 4 miles south-west of Manchester.
Most Stretford houses built from the 1920s onwards have cavity walls, but the survey still checks each one: cavity width, debris, the condition of the brickwork and how exposed each wall is. If a wall in Stretford is not suitable, for example because of an undiagnosed damp patch or a very exposed gable, you are told so in writing with the reason.
Every elevation is judged on its own exposure. Greater Manchester has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
On the rules side, in Stretford filling a cavity is notifiable building work and needs a building notice or competent-person self-certification.

Is my wall suitable for cavity wall insulation?
Most homes built from the 1920s onwards have cavity walls, but having a cavity is not the same as being suitable. The Energy Saving Trust's rule of thumb is a cavity of at least 50mm, clear of rubble, behind masonry in good condition, on a wall that is not exposed to severe driving rain or flood risk.
