Cavity wall insulation removal across Tyne and Wear
We cover 13 towns in Tyne and Wear, including Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland, South Shields, Gateshead, Washington and more.
Every elevation is judged on its own exposure. Tyne and Wear has a mix of moderate and more exposed sites. Hilltop, coastal and west-facing walls take the brunt of wind-driven rain, so the survey records exposure for each elevation before a material is chosen.
Where a Tyne and Wear wall does need work, bricks are lifted and rebuilt in matching mortar, and the cavity is checked with a camera before it is closed up. If your Tyne and Wear installation has a guarantee, we check it first; the guarantee route may cover the work.
Building Regulations in England
Filling an existing cavity wall is notifiable building work in England. Either a building notice goes to building control before the work, or the installer self-certifies it through a government-approved competent person scheme such as CIGA's CWISC scheme. The insulation used must also be suitable for the wall it goes into, which is why the survey checks construction, condition and exposure first.

If you have a guarantee
Contact your original installer first. If that does not resolve it within two months, CIGA's process applies for CIGA-guaranteed installs. Removing insulation yourself can void a guarantee, so speak to the provider before work.
