Cavity insulation top-up for Oban properties
If your property is in Oban or the PA34 district or nearby Dunoon and Helensburgh, it is within our Argyll and Bute coverage. It is roughly 39 miles north-west of Helensburgh.
A suitable wall in Oban is usually filled in a single day from outside, with drill holes made good to match the pointing. If a wall in Oban is not suitable, for example because of an undiagnosed damp patch or a very exposed gable, you are told so in writing with the reason.
Exposure matters for every cavity wall. Parts of Argyll and Bute face some of the heaviest wind-driven rain in the UK, especially exposed coastal and upland sites. Here the survey is stricter: some walls suit only certain certified systems, and some should not be filled at all.
On compliance, in Oban no building warrant is needed for insulation within a wall, but the work must meet the building standards.

When a top-up is not enough
If the existing fill is wet, contaminated with debris or breaking down, adding more on top can make things worse. In that case we tell you the honest option, which may be partial or full removal and refill.
